    Today marks the beginning of the United Nations Conference on Climate Change, or COP21, which will be held through December 11, 2015 in Paris. The timing couldn’t be better to announce to the local community that the City of Reno is making great strides in the area of sustainability.

    Reno Fire Department investigators, in conjunction with the Reno Police Department, have arrested Yvonne Marie Morlet for first degree arson in a fire at the Grand Sierra Resort.

    The City of Reno administrative offices at Reno City Hall (1 East First Street) will be closed in observance of the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 26 and Friday, November 27, 2015. This includes the Community Development department and City Attorney's Office.

    This morning the City of Reno became aware of the application the Northern Nevada International Center (NNIC) submitted to the U.S. State Department to become a refugee city with stated support from the City of Reno. Neither the Mayor nor the City Manager’s offices approved any statement.

    The City of Reno, Washoe County Senior Services, and Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) are partnering again this year on the Senior Giving holiday donation program, which assists seniors in the local community. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada and Reno Aces are also contributing to the cause.

    The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the Greater Reno Area, which remains in effect until 8 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, November 10, 2015. Snow accumulations of two to four inches are forecast for the valley floors, with three to six inches above 5,000 feet.
